Question 1

What does an AI SEO agency do?

Accepted Answer

An AI SEO agency optimises a brand's visibility inside generative AI systems like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. The work includes entity definition, schema, cross-platform coherence, third-party authority and question-led content.

Question 2

Is AI SEO the same as GEO?

Accepted Answer

AI SEO and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) describe the same discipline. AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) is also frequently used. AVO is our preferred term because it scopes the work across the full AI surface.

Question 3

Will AI SEO replace traditional SEO?

Accepted Answer

No. Traditional SEO continues to drive significant discovery for years. AI SEO addresses the demand AI assistants now mediate, which traditional SEO was never designed to reach. Most UK brands now need both.

Question 4

How is AI SEO measured?

Accepted Answer

We measure probability of inclusion in AI responses across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude on a fixed set of buyer-shaped queries. Each of the four AVO dimensions is scored individually and as a composite.

Question 5

Does the AI SEO audit cost anything?

Accepted Answer

No. The first AI Recommendation Readiness Report is free. It runs in 60 seconds and returns a baseline score across all four AVO dimensions on your real category queries.

Question 6

Can you actually do SEO for ChatGPT?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ChatGPT's selection process responds to a defined set of signals: entity clarity, cross-platform coherence, third-party authority and intent alignment. ChatGPT SEO is the engineered programme of moving those signals.

Question 7

How do I get my business listed on ChatGPT?

Accepted Answer

ChatGPT does not have a directory. It selects businesses to name based on its training data, the wider open web and (for browsing-enabled queries) live citations. Inclusion is engineered through the four AVO dimensions, not requested.

Question 8

How do I check if ChatGPT recommends me?

Accepted Answer

Run our free 60-second AI Recommendation Readiness Report. It returns your current ChatGPT inclusion probability across the buyer-shaped queries that matter in your category, with decomposition by dimension.

Question 9

How long does ChatGPT SEO take?

Accepted Answer

Median time to first ChatGPT citation across our engagements is 14 days. Meaningful category presence is typically established within 60 days.

Question 10

Is ChatGPT SEO worth it?

Accepted Answer

If your buyers research with AI before contact, yes. Brands named inside ChatGPT today set the default that competitors will spend years dislodging. The earlier the work, the more durable the position.

Question 11

What is Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO)?

Accepted Answer

AEO is the discipline of engineering a brand's inclusion inside the synthesised answers produced by AI systems and answer engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI Overviews.

Question 12

Is AEO the same as GEO?

Accepted Answer

Largely yes. AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) describe the same emerging discipline using slightly different framing. AVO is our preferred term because it scopes the full AI surface.

Question 13

How is AEO different from SEO?

Accepted Answer

SEO optimises for placement in a list of ten links read by a human. AEO optimises for inclusion inside a single synthesised answer written by a language model. Different decision-maker, different signals, different format.

Question 14

Which AEO ranking factors matter most?

Accepted Answer

Our controlled experiments rank the levers as: interpretability (entry condition), authority (largest continuous lever), coherence (multiplier), intent alignment (precision). Sequence matters; running them in parallel dilutes the result.

Question 15

How is AEO measured?

Accepted Answer

We measure probability of inclusion in AI responses across all major answer engines on a fixed set of buyer-shaped queries, decomposed into the four AVO dimensions and benchmarked against a competitive named-set.

Question 16

Can you do SEO for Perplexity?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Perplexity surfaces its citation set explicitly, which makes Perplexity SEO directly measurable. Inclusion is engineered through entity clarity, cross-platform coherence, third-party authority and question-shaped content.

Question 17

How do I rank on Perplexity?

Accepted Answer

Perplexity does not rank in the SEO sense; it cites. Inclusion in the citation set is the goal. Our four-dimension AVO programme is the engineered path to consistent Perplexity citation.

Question 18

How long does Perplexity SEO take?

Accepted Answer

Technical and on-site changes can be implemented quickly, while third-party citations take longer to earn and be recrawled. AVO benchmarks the starting citation set and repeats the same tests after implementation so progress is evidenced rather than guessed.

Question 19

Is Perplexity SEO worth it?

Accepted Answer

If your buyers are researchers, analysts, journalists, consultants or other high-intent professional users, yes. Perplexity over-indexes on this audience compared to ChatGPT.

Question 20

Can you optimise for Google Gemini and AI Overviews?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Gemini and AI Overviews respond to a defined set of signals around entity clarity, structured data, freshness and third-party authority. Our AVO methodology engineers all four.

Question 21

Will Gemini replace traditional Google search?

Accepted Answer

Gemini powers AI Overviews above the traditional results rather than replacing them outright. Both surfaces will coexist for years, which is why we run Gemini SEO and traditional SEO in parallel.

Question 22

How do I get my business cited in AI Overviews?

Accepted Answer

Through the same four levers that move every AI system: machine-legible entity, cross-platform coherence, third-party authority and intent-aligned content. Our free report returns your current Gemini inclusion probability.

Question 23

How long does Gemini SEO take?

Accepted Answer

Meaningful inclusion in Gemini answers and AI Overviews is typically established within 60 days of a sequenced AVO engagement.

Question 24

What does AVO stand for?

Accepted Answer

AVO stands for AI Visibility Optimisation. It is the discipline of engineering brands to be selected and recommended by ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude.

Question 25

Is AVO the same as SEO?

Accepted Answer

No. SEO optimises for ranking on a search results page. AVO optimises for inclusion in a generated AI answer. The signals overlap but the selection mechanisms are different.

Question 26

Who coined the term AVO?

Accepted Answer

AVO is the practitioner term used by AVO (an AVO publication) for the integrated discipline of AI visibility. It encompasses GEO, AEO and the underlying entity work.

Question 27

How is AVO measured?

Accepted Answer

Through the AVO Score™: a measurement of inclusion probability across a defined set of buyer queries, sampled across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude.

Question 28

What does GEO stand for?

Accepted Answer

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation. It is the practice of being cited by generative AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

Question 29

Is GEO different from AEO?

Accepted Answer

GEO emphasises citation inside generative LLM answers. AEO emphasises direct-answer surfaces such as featured snippets and AI Overviews. They overlap and most practitioners run both together inside an AVO programme.

Question 30

Is GEO replacing SEO?

Accepted Answer

Not replacing - extending. SEO and GEO target overlapping signals but different surfaces. Most brands now need both running in parallel.

Question 31

How quickly does GEO produce results?

Accepted Answer

First measurable AI citation typically within 14 days; meaningful inclusion-rate lift across the four major engines within 60 days.

Question 32

What does AEO stand for?

Accepted Answer

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimisation. It is the practice of being returned as the direct answer by AI assistants, AI Overviews and featured-snippet surfaces.

Question 33

Is AEO different from GEO?

Accepted Answer

AEO focuses on direct-answer surfaces: AI Overviews, featured snippets, voice assistants. GEO focuses on citation inside generative LLM answers. Most modern programmes run both inside an AVO engagement.

Question 34

Does AEO matter if I'm not in voice search?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The same answer-engine selection mechanism powers Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. AEO is no longer a voice-search niche; it is the dominant discovery surface.

Question 35

How long does AEO take?

Accepted Answer

First inclusion in answer-engine surfaces typically within 30-60 days for well-structured topics, depending on the strength of the existing entity and authority signals.

Question 36

Is GEO the same as AEO or AI SEO?

Accepted Answer

Largely yes. GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) and AI SEO describe the same emerging discipline. AVO is our preferred frame because it scopes the full AI surface.

Question 37

If I already do good SEO, do I still need GEO?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Strong SEO helps but does not guarantee inclusion in AI answers. The four AVO dimensions - interpretability, coherence, authority, intent alignment - must be engineered explicitly.

Question 38

How is GEO measured vs SEO?

Accepted Answer

SEO measures rank, traffic and conversions. GEO measures probability of inclusion across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude on a fixed set of buyer-shaped queries.

Question 39

Should we stop content marketing and just do AVO?

Accepted Answer

No. AVO and content marketing are complementary. AVO determines whether content gets cited; content gives AVO something to cite. The shift is in how briefs are written and which signals are engineered around publication.

Question 40

Will AVO improve performance of existing content?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most clients see lift on existing pages once interpretability, coherence and authority signals are corrected - without rewriting the content itself.

Question 41

How is AVO measured vs content marketing KPIs?

Accepted Answer

Content KPIs measure traffic and engagement. AVO measures inclusion probability inside AI answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude on real buyer queries.

Question 42

Does AVO work for thought-leadership content?

Accepted Answer

Particularly well. AI systems heavily weight bylined, credentialled, citation-rich material. AVO formalises the signals that make thought-leadership extractable and trusted.

Question 43

Should I cut PPC and replace it with AVO?

Accepted Answer

Rarely. The right move is to rebalance: keep PPC on bottom-funnel transactional terms, shift research-stage budget to AVO where AI now intercepts the buyer.

Question 44

Does AVO show up in my paid analytics?

Accepted Answer

Not directly - the click never happens. AVO impact is measured on inclusion probability across AI engines and on direct/branded uplift downstream.

Question 45

How fast is AVO vs PPC?

Accepted Answer

PPC is instant; AVO compounds. First AI citation typically inside 14 days, sustained category presence inside 60. After that, the visibility persists without per-click cost.

Question 46

Will my CPC fall if I do AVO?

Accepted Answer

Often yes. Brands named inside AI answers attract more direct + branded search, which lowers paid CPCs on the same terms over time.

Question 47

How much does a Generative Engine Optimisation agency cost in the UK?

Accepted Answer

AVO publishes UK pricing openly. The Starter tier is free (live AVO Score™ + top 3 quick wins). Diagnostic & Setup engagements start at £1,000. Growth retainers start at £500 per month. Enterprise starts at £3,500 per month.

Question 48

How is a GEO agency different from an SEO agency?

Accepted Answer

An SEO agency competes for one of ten blue links on a Google results page. A GEO agency competes for inclusion inside a single AI-generated answer. Different decision-maker, different signals, different measurement.

Question 49

Which AI systems does a UK GEO agency optimise for?

Accepted Answer

The four that drive UK referral traffic today: ChatGPT (including ChatGPT Search), Google Gemini and AI Overviews, Perplexity and Claude. Bing Copilot uses overlapping signals.

Question 50

Do you offer Generative Engine Optimisation consultancy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. AVO works as both a delivery agency and a GEO consultant. We can diagnose the opportunity, provide a prioritised implementation plan, or deliver the technical, content and authority work with your team.

Question 51

What can a ChatGPT visibility agency improve?

Accepted Answer

An agency can improve the clarity, consistency, third-party evidence and query relevance ChatGPT uses when retrieving and recommending businesses. No agency can guarantee inclusion, so AVO benchmarks the current answer set and measures changes transparently.

Question 52

How much does a ChatGPT visibility agency cost?

Accepted Answer

AVO's Starter tier is free — a live ChatGPT readiness score plus the top three quick wins. Diagnostic & Setup engagements start at £1,000. Growth retainers start at £500 per month.

Question 53

Do I also get visibility in Gemini and Perplexity?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The signals that make ChatGPT recommend you overlap heavily with Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Every AVO engagement measures and improves across all four.

Question 54

How long does ChatGPT visibility work take?

Accepted Answer

Technical and on-site changes can be implemented quickly, while new third-party authority takes longer to earn and be recrawled. AVO establishes a baseline first, then re-tests the same buyer questions so progress is measured rather than promised.

Question 55

What does a Gemini optimization agency do?

Accepted Answer

A Gemini optimization agency engineers a business's entity, schema, authority and content so Google Gemini and AI Overviews reliably name and cite it when synthesising answers for buyer queries.

Question 56

Is Gemini optimization the same as SEO for AI Overviews?

Accepted Answer

Overlapping but not identical. AI Overviews are one surface Gemini powers; Gemini also drives the Google app assistant, Workspace answers and third-party integrations. Optimising for Gemini improves all of them.

Question 57

How much does Gemini optimization cost in the UK?

Accepted Answer

AVO's Starter tier is free. Growth retainers start at £500 per month. Diagnostic & Setup engagements start at £1,000. Enterprise starts at £3,500 per month.

Question 58

Will Gemini optimization help my Google rankings too?

Accepted Answer

Almost always. The signals Gemini weights — entity clarity, structured data, authority, intent alignment — are the same signals modern Google ranking systems reward. Most AVO clients see traditional ranking uplifts as a side-effect.

Question 59

What is an AEO agency?

Accepted Answer

An AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) agency improves how answer engines — Google AI Overviews, featured snippets, ChatGPT, Perplexity and voice assistants — understand, quote and recommend a business.

Question 60

How much do AEO services cost in the UK?

Accepted Answer

AVO's Starter check is free. Diagnostic & Setup starts at £1,000, Growth retainers start at £500 per month and Enterprise starts at £3,500 per month.

Question 61

Should I hire an AEO agency or do it in-house?

Accepted Answer

In-house teams can handle answer-first content and schema. An agency adds testing across AI systems, question research and third-party authority building, which are harder to run internally. Many clients split the work.

Question 62

Do you offer AEO services for small businesses?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The first AEO check is free and Growth plans start at £500 per month, designed for small and mid-sized UK businesses.

Question 63

Where are your AEO specialists based?

Accepted Answer

AVO is a UK AEO agency working remotely with businesses across the UK, including London, Bristol, Leicester, Manchester and Birmingham.

Question 64

Can an AEO agency guarantee AI Overview inclusion?

Accepted Answer

No. Google and AI providers decide what appears. A credible AEO agency measures a baseline, improves the signals answer engines use, and re-tests transparently.
